- Replacing an under frame with a new plastic kit under frame.
- Re-aligning the brake gear can be an option that improves wagons as many earlier wagons and some kit wagons had brake gear that does not line up with the wheels.
- Replacing the W-irons with etched example.
- Replacing the brake gear with etched brake gear. This provides a much finer and more scale result than the plastic break gear from most ready to run or plastic kit wagons.
