Nigel has always been a keen railway modeller, joining Warley Model Railway Club back in the early 1980s. Starting in OO gauge and then progressing to 7mm modelling he also has a keen interest on military modelling, Nigel is probably familiar to many as a prolific exhibition organiser.As a member of the Gauge O Guild exhibition team, he was involved in delivering many successful Guildex exhibitions at Telford. Nigel was chairman of the Guild for five years before taking up the reins organising the Warley Model Railway show at the NEC.
For over 30 years Nigel was a member of the Loco Clinic which appeared at many different exhibitions. This was a service designed to give advice on construction and problem solving with model locos and rolling stock.
However, alongside this Nigel is also a professional layout builder working alongside Neil Podbery and Paul Bambrick amongst others. Early projects he was involved with were Holiday Haunts, Dainton Bank and St Ives (in Gauge 3) and of course the well-known 82G shed layout which has been on the exhibition circuit for many years. Most recently he has been part of the team working on the Bourne End layout featured in Model Railway Journal 314. Nigel’s particular interests include blending of surfaces, construction of complex structures using brass and general scenery.
Nigel will be tutoring our new scenery course to be introduced in the Spring weekend in 2027.
