Many a fine hand-built model has been ruined by an indifferent finish and this course is designed to show you how to do things properly. Top model-painter Geoff Haynes takes you through the sequence of preparation, cleaning, priming, painting (by airbrush and by hand), lining and varnishing.
Once learned, these are skills that will last you a lifetime. Whether you’re using cellulose paints, enamels or acrylic, the main essentials are concentration, a good eye and a steady hand. Painting and lining are not difficult in themselves but acquiring the necessary skills does call for patience and repeated practice. Most failures in this department could easily have been avoided and Geoff demonstrates the right way of going about things in his familiar straightforward, no-nonsense way. A glance at his website shows just what is possible using these techniques.
You can Watch Geoff at work in this demonstration video that we made at our Autumn 2024 weekend. Geoff also did a demonstration entitled Getting Started Lining at our final Autumn weekend at Missenden Abbey before our move to Cookham for the Spring of 2026.
