Geoff Haynes – Painting & Lining

Geoff HaynesGeoff has a growing reputation as a professional model painter. He has demonstrated painting and lining techniques at EMGS, Scalefour Society, and Gauge O Guild events, and has also given lectures on the subject. Geoff has written articles for Model Railway Journal and British Railway Modelling, and wrote the book Painting and Lining Model Locomotives and Coaches published by The Crowood Press in 2019.

Geoff’s interest in model railways started very early with a clockwork train set, moving onto Triang Hornby  models. He started building Airfix and Matchbox aircraft kits at the age of 10, which is when he bought his first airbrush with birthday money that year. By the age of 12, he became a member of the Ilford and West Essex Model Railway Club’s EM section, who had the ex MR layout Eastwell. He started lining models in 1990.

Having worked as a teacher, he is no stranger to the classroom. He then turned his hobby into a profession 8 years ago, building, and painting and lining models. However, he always enjoys helping and encouraging others to progress in any way they can.
