The perfect opportunity to improve your railway modelling skills with the best tutors in the hobby.

For more than 30 years, people have been polishing their skills at Missenden Abbey’s unique Railway Modellers’ Weekends. Hands-on, practical courses cover the key aspects of railway modelling. Working closely with some of the best-known names in the business, you can choose from a wide variety of course options – from chassis construction to electronics, scenics to kit-building, from soldering and tracklaying to airbrush painting and weathering.

We aim to help you build a working model that’s well on its way to completion by the time you go home – and, above all, to enjoy yourself. Though not suitable for the outright beginner, the courses are ideal for the modeller with basic skills wanting to make further progress or feeling their working methods need refreshment. We particularly welcome modellers returning to the hobby, keen to make up lost ground after years devoted to family and career.
Deep in the Buckinghamshire countryside, within easy reach of the M25, Missenden Abbey provides excellent food, comfortable accommodation, free broadband and real ale in the bar. As well as expert modelling guidance you’ll enjoy 'a refreshing break from domestic interference, sponging kids, dogs that want walking, gardens that need tidying and trolleys to push round Sainsbury’s'. (CJL 2011)

Missenden is great fun - a place to learn a great deal about your hobby and get some serious modelling done, especially at the week-long Summer Retreat. Dozens of past students will testify that you’re assured a wonderful time in a unique venue, meeting other modellers and sharing ideas and expertise.
