Facilities

The Abbey building has a bar, garden room for tea and coffee and the dining room.  Outside there are 7 acres of grounds with tables and chairs for you to sit and relax in whilst you have your tea or coffee.  Daily papers are available in the garden room, though many people prefer to forget the outside world.

There is a large dining room and from the moment you walk through the door you have the option to be a saint or sinner when it comes to your food choices.  There are usually homemade cookies, desserts and afternoon pastries or cakes on offer as well as a selection of fresh fruit, salads and yoghurts.

The ‘teaching’ rooms are the same as those used for meetings and conferences, so they are well appointed, comfortable, well lit and most are air conditioned.  There are hearing loops but no lift to get to the first floor, so if this would be difficult for you, please let the Abbey know.

Many course participants stay and there are 57 comfortable en-suite bedrooms on two floors of a purpose-built block.  If the rooms are fully booked we make arrangements for course members to book accommodation at Chartridge Lodge located a short drive away near Chesham.

If you live near enough and would prefer not to stay at the Abbey, that’s no problem. Non-resident students are always very welcome.

There is free Wi Fi throughout the venue and accommodation.

If 7 acres of peaceful surroundings are not enough for you, a short walk out of the grounds is the main street of Great Missenden with local shops, a tea room and the Roald Dahl Museum.
