Ever since the start of the Missenden Railway Modellers Summer Retreat there has either been a visit to a local railway attraction or a guest speaker during the week, for 2022 we are pleased to announce David Townend from the McKinley Railway will be our special guest speaker. David is an enthusiastic railway modeller and the man behind the McKinley Time Machine project, he will talk to us about the trials and tribulations of building a large model railway.
For those of you not familiar with the McKinley Railway and its extensive YouTube channel, the concept behind the layout is to showcase the development of British Railways between 1956 and 1975. The layout features a number of stations and goods facilities that are used to show how the traffic and associated rolling stock has changed over this period. McKinley is a 4mm layout and features a mix of manual and automated control to keep the trains running and a prodigious fiddle yard and is built on a scale most of us could only dream about.
David will be with us on Wednesday, 10th August and for the first time we are pleased to announce that there are a limited number of additional places to join us for David’s talk and dinner. Numbers are limited and advance bookings are required via our normal booking website. The cost is £16 including a 3 course dinner.
